the book's great for beginners who're starting out with Java. i had done basic C, skipped the object oriented C and gone straight to Java (though i wouldn't recommend doing this to others) and this book still managed to keep the level of difficulty low enough for the concepts to be understood and the yet the powerfulness of the language to be grasped.

This book is perhaps the best read for beginners, given its crisp and detailed explanations of basic JAVA concepts.

The book will help you a lot in diving the vast ocean of JAVA and will give a strong base over the language to help you in learning further. It is also the best textbook you can refer to, if you are having JAVA as a subject in your undergrad.

If you want to really LEARN the Java language right from the basics, this book is a must. The core concepts of Java have been simplified with suitable examples and the elaboration of every core concept has been put forward in a simple style.
