Explains the essentials of JavaScript & ECMAScript 5 in less than 300 pages

JavaScript Pocket Reference isn't really a dictionary styled reference that I imagined it to be. This book reads more like a O’Reilly book in the Nutshell series than a Reference. It should have been called JavaScript in a Nutshell for this is a distilled & condensed version of the author's immensely popular JavaScript: The Definitive Guide. It is however a well-written book that covers the important parts of JavaScript and the essentials of ECMAScript 5 in less than 300 pages.

it is a really good book. covers most of the concepts .
everything is explained in short and precise manner.

i recommend this book to all Javascript programmers.
it covers javascript for html 5 too.

Good if you are already gelled with Jscript!

Explains JS a bit upgraded way. I suggest the newbies to go for some basic ideas about javascript and then come back and keep this one in the pocket so that you can brush up the functions, methods etc. In the last few chapters veryfew basics of Ajax and Client / Server Side storage and sockets have been explained. Just an overview for the pros.
