Awesome Reading! Mahabharata illustrated in best way!

It is a good work by Devdutt Pattanaik! Very few can explain the whole of mahabharata in such a simple way as he has done it through his work. Clears many things about mahabharat. Thank you for such a divine work, enriching the youth and readers with the culture of this great epic. Go for it! Its a good retelling.
I also came to know about the writer being consultant of the TV serial Mahabharat telecasted @ Star Plus.
The Serial is a superhit and most of the instances you can relate with the ...

A MUST READ..!!

I had always thought of reading and knowing the Mahabharata but somehow I just couldn't sit down and go through the traditional one. That is when I stumbled upon JAYA. And grateful as I am, this book is for all those who just want to know that little something about our culture and beliefs. The work put in by the author in gathering the facts will leave you absolutely stunned and once you are done with it you would feel like acting like an expert on hindu Mythology.....!!! Really it is that g...

Worth every penny

Talking about the product, the paper quality and even the cover is absolutely fine.
If you're an admirer of mythologies or just intrigued to know more about Mahabharata, go for it. The discription of every event is concisely penned. The language is gripping. The illustrations are extremely beautiful (artistically speaking). The foot notes are knowledgeable and even at times it has mind opening comments.
I really liked the illustrations and the proportion of the book, which is larger in bread...

One of the most insightful books on Hindu Mythology.

Devdutt Pattanaik has given one of the best insights into Mahabharata. The book provides with a fresh perspective into the great mythology and also increases the reader's understanding of the purpose of writing the epic. The author has not only painted a vivid picture of the events in the Mahabharata but also has clearly identified the lessons to be learned from it. Such a fine balance is difficult to come by and shows the extensive research that the author has put in. There is no doubt that ...

Spectacular book

This has to be one of the best books on Mahabharat.
The best part of book is it is impartial and factual. Also every chapter end with few bullet points, trying to connect events and customs in story, with probable prevailing customes in reality around that period. It interprets Mahabharat not just as a stoy, but also from a rational point of view.
A Must-Read !

A refreshing voyage to rediscover Mahabharat

A must read.

High above the sky stands Swarga, paradise, abode of the gods. Still above is Vaikuntha, heaven, abode of God. The doorkeepers of Vaikuntha are the twins, Jaya and Vijaya, both whose names mean victory . One keeps you in Swarga; the other raises you into Vaikuntha. In Vaikuntha there is bliss forever, in Swarga there is pleasure for only as long as you deserve.

Jaya is the ancient name of the epic given by Vyasa himself. In this book, the story is narrated to Janamejaya (Great...

Buy a copy. Worth every rupee.

Absolute wonderful effort. The stories of Mahabharata themselves and the author's refreshing inferences and view points on them make you pause and think about life at several points of the book. The book is a classic breezy read even if you are not the introspecting type. A must read to know the great epic and the various lessons on humanity it serves.

Most most recommended. Must Read!

Brilliant !

Before I got my hands on this book I was like Gandhari.. Blind to the epic. Having faint memories of what I had seen on DD during my childhood.

Thanks to Pattanaik I feel a lot more enlightened. Excellent language, extremely good research. The notes/summaries at the end of every chapter is a thoughful and useful addition.

Must read.. and re-read.
