Jayaprakash Narayan's: (English, Hardcover, Kar Purnendu Kumar)

Though revolutions are not new to mankind, the Total revolution was a unique and marvelous concept which Jayaprakash Narayan envisaged to bring changes in almost all important aspects of individual and national life. The impact of this revolution was so drastic and penetrating that it came to be regarded as the biggest national revolution after the Quit India movement of 1942 that truly put India back on the track of democracy by wiping out domestic despotism. Though the goals of this revolution were never achieved completely, the fascinating journey of Jayaprakash Narayan from nationalism to Marxism, from evanescent Marxism to Gandhism via democratic socialism and then from Sarvodaya to Gandhism is worth remembering in his quest for revolution. Jayaprakash Narayan is fondly regarded as the second liberator of India after Gandhiji, and a moral, spiritual and social successor to Gandhiji. His life and legacy is still cherished by millions in India and he is a familiar name in Indian politics even after three decades of his demise. The dedication with which he served the cause of the Indians throughout his entire life-span of seventy seven years hardly finds any parallel in the history of post-independent India.

Purnendu Kumar Kar The author is working as an Assistant Professor in S.P. College of Law, Chandrapur (Maharashtra) since the last 12 years. Though as many as eleven of his articles have been published in various journals and magazines this is his maiden publication in the shape of a book. His second book on Gond Rulers of Chandrapur: A Historical, Political and Cultural Saga is in the pipe- line and is expected to be released in 2013. Recently he has been nominated as a Ph.D. Supervisor in History, both under RTM Nagpur University, Nagpur and Gondwana University, Gadchiroli. He is also working as a member of Board of Studies, Faculty of Law in both these Universities. He is also a member of Indian History Congress, and RTM Nagpur University and Sant Gadgebaba Amravati University Itihas Parishad.
