This book is highly recommended for actuary exams and econometrics.
Has a good variety of problems in its question bank and a very systematic approach towards the subject matter.
I found this book very useful.

I was looking out for a compact Mathematical Statistics book which deals with most of the topics that are to be asked in IIT JAM Mathematical Statistics' entrance exam. I found this book to be a good systematic approach for the very topics it covers. At this level, we can not expect everything from anything. We must look out for more. Try out FUNDAMENTALS OF MATHEMATICAL STATISTICS by S.C. Gupta and V.K. Kapoor to get a good range of solved and unsolved problems.

This book is recommended by Institute and Faculty of Actuaries as a reading for CT3 exam. I would say that the book gives a very wordy/intuitive introduction to Mathematical Statistics.

Merits of the book:

-> There is a huge problem set at the end of every chapter.
-> Most of the tedious proofs are omitted to keep the reading pace fast.

The only negative is that the word problems are not very physical or application based.

Nice buy if you're going for CT3 exam.

A very useful supplementary book for actuariall CT-3 exams.However,it contains solutions only to odd-numbered exercises and the solutions are overly brief.If you have the full solution manual of this book ,it is a great choice for CT-3 exams

It is one of the reference book for M.E.Manufacturing engineering first semester paper called Applied probability and statistics. The most annoying thing is the flipkart delivery through Bluedart shipping in ooty. It would take weeks and if there were holidays a couple indeed. Ooty people better don't opt for flipkart purchase of books.... better go to nearby bookstores.
