Baby nappy pads or adult nappy pads?

When I open this Nappy pad I was shocked to see the huge size of the nappy and how bulky it was. It is certainly not for baby. I tried it on my baby and she kept on crying till I took it out. I was trying an alternative to diapers, but it seems diapers are far more light and small than this nappy pad. Not I have this pack lying around useless, since it is opened I am not sure whether.
