The delicate pietra dura of the Taj Mahal, which is decorated with the precious stones as flowers and leaves, depict the eternal love and devotion of two lovers towards each other. Pietra dura is an art of making decorative pieces by incrustations of stones on marble plates which are previously abraded. It often represents floral motifs, plants and geometric patterns.
