    Quite good!

Fast-paced and interesting. Definitely worth a read. The plot is quite well thought out and keeps you immersed right till the end. I don't think there are many good political thrillers coming out of India.

An author to look out for

I liked the book, especially the author's writing style and his control over the langugage.
The idea of the book intially sounded like an unlikely thing to happen in india, but later intrigued by this concept i did some own personal research on this topic.

And i must admit the usage of facts and moulding it in to a fast paced plot is comendable.

I am eagerly waiting for the sequel.

A great debut from a promising new writer

My first thought when I finished reading Kalyug was: this can't be the work of a first-time writer!

    R. Sreeram's language is very good, and yet he ensures that he doesn't send readers scrambling for their dictionary apps. The unraveling of the plot, the build-up of tension, the characterization, the action sequences, have all been handled with finesse. The pace is pretty good, and once you get hooked on, it's a nice ride till the end.

I recommend Kalyug to everyone and hope to see more ...

    Good fiction

If you ask me what is fiction.

I would say fiction is a piece of literature in which the author picks up a plots which could be a folklore, a myth or a real incident. Now to this plots, he adds many layers of innovative possibilities (based on his/her imagination) to make a story out of it.

An awesome fiction is that which blow out your mind with brilliant mosaic of the possibilities composing an amazing story to read and tell.

But this novel is not an awesome fiction but a good one.It...

Ignore the name and the book is wonderful.

What a commendable job R Sreeram has done in his maiden book Kalyug. A gripping tale; with a wonderful start that sets the tone of the book at the very beginning. It just won’t allow keeping it down, and if you somehow did manage to keep it down for a while, it’ll come and haunt you to finish reading it. That’s what happened with me at least. And personally I believe that’s what a thriller should do to you.
The plot is perfect and is well written. The way every character has been portrayed, ...

    Century on Debut!

In Kalyug, the author has attempted an out-and-out political fantasy in a format that is inherently metafictional because their simple existence provides commentary on the story telling process. This style though is currently on indefinite hiatus; but I believe there is plenty here to read about and learn from. He lets his imagination run a reckless riot. It’s like a car let loose at break-neck speed on a not too congested highway interspersing through mind-blowing hair-pin bends, unimagi...

    A promising start.

Kalyug has come out at a time when there is a profusion of Indian authors trying their hand at thriller writing. While the vast majority of these first-time-author novels wind up being essentially pulp fiction, Kalyug stands out as a well researched and tightly written novel.

The story moves quickly enough to convince the reader of its plausibility. The non-linear plot, however, is a device that is too heavily used these days and this is another example of where it isn't strictly necessary.

A gripping novel that makes you think what if this really happens

Now here is a well written and well laid out novel. The story line is crisp and gripping, you are always kept thinking what is coming up next. What starts as a theory actually takes shape. The novel brings forward quite a few ideas that we all wish can come true.

What I can say is here is a new author who will surely make his presence felt, a must read novel and looking forward to many such masterpieces from R Sreeram....

A concept well executed. Sriram takes you places you have dreamt of.

This tale grips you to the core and reminds us some of the stories we may have enacted in our conscience. A political gripping story reminding us some of the great screenplays in Hollywood, and if I may, a Robert Ludlum touch with an Indian flavour. Characters may seem larger than life at times, but pressure that drives them seems very real. In a country where political and military conspiracies are discussed vaguely on a daily basis, it is refreshing to see a similar plot discussed in such d...

    A Dream Debut!

When you talk about the new age authors in India, especially the Engg - MBA clan, you have that one name - you know who!
R Sreeram is a welcome break. Military coup, two contrasting points of view, gripping tale, excellent cover and the length which is at the just optimum level.

This debut by Sreeram assures that he is not getting back to a boring corporate job and we won't let him.
