Kane Chronicles is a series of three novels based on Egyptian folklore, following the journey of two young children, Carter and Sadie, who in their quest to save the world, discover certain truths about their family.
Summary Of The Book
In The Red Pyramid, the two siblings, Carter and Sadie are separated. Sadie is sent away to her grandparents who reside in London while Carter remains with their father Dr. Julius Kane, a celebrated Egyptologist. One evening, with the intention of uniting his family, Dr. Kane reunites the two siblings for an experiment, held at a museum. Unknowingly, Dr. Kane sets free Set, an Egyptian god who curses him into oblivion, which send the children running for safety. Shortly thereafter, Carter and Sadie learn that the Egyptian gods are awakening, of which Set, who is most evil, has a vendetta against the Kanes. In an effort to stop the evil Set, the children embark on a treacherous journey around the world. During this journey, Carter and Sadie discover hidden family truths, and the link they share with a secret order from the age of the pharaohs.
In The Throne Of Fire, the second book of Kane Chronicles, Carter and Sadie are burdened with the immense responsibility of saving the world from the Gods of Egypt, and particularly from Apophis, the snake of chaos. If they fail to destroy him, the world will be no more. As descendants of a special clan, the House of Life, they are able to command certain powers, but whether these will help them destroy the snake and save the world at the same time remains to be seen. They also need to revive Ra, the Sun God. Before they can do that, Carter and Sadie need to locate the three parts of Ra’s book, and learn its spells.
Carter and Sadie try to acquire magical powers in the third book of Kane Chronicles, The Serpent’s Shadow, in order to be able to defeat Apophis. But the magicians in their clan are threatening to wage war and the Gods are divided amongst themselves, so the two protagonists are left alone to fight this ancient war.
The three books were published between 2010 and 2012 by Disney Hyperion and Puffin Books.
