Karmachari (Marathi, Paperback, Kale V. Pu.)
Karmachari (Marathi) is a tale of the regular ‘karmachari’, the employee, and the everyday incidents and events that make up his life.
Summary Of The Book
The regular employee has experienced it all. He waits in the queue every day for hours, be it to board a bus at the start or end of the day, collect ration, to buy milk, or buy tickets at a cinema hall. Yet, he doesn’t lose patience. To reach work on time, the karmachari risks his life by, say, boarding a moving train. He faces the boss’ criticism without flinching, and drinks the tasteless tea available at the canteen.
After he goes home, he has to put up with many things. He even tolerates and goes through with things that seem hollow. He puts up with mass protests, hunger strikes, peace marches, and the curfew, and still finds time to be happy and make others smile.
A collection of short stories, Karmachari (Marathi) serves to be the mirror through which the regular employee sees himself. It doesn’t matter whether the reader is a foreman or head clerk, an employee on his first day of work or last, the book speaks to everybody and teaches people to share the good things with everyone and love all.
