The author Dr. Shamsul Alam is a political and social scientist par excellence. He happens to be the retired Principal of Kidderpore College under the University of Calcutta.His commitment is wedded to rationalism,, secularism, feminism and humanism..He has already composed several books on politics,, education, human development besides contributing to two UGC research projects on common civil code and rural self - government. He acted as a peer member of NAAC (2004-05) and as President of Calcutta University Committee of Principals Council (2002 -08).As a columnist he has written a lot in various journals and newspapers. His latest book is noteworthy with a title " A New Look in English Poetry " (2018) published by Notion Press ( Chennai, Singapore and Malayasia).
