Author shows the external or social life of his characters in his writing (particularly short stories) who often want to reach a destination but because of strong power of destiny there often remains a gap between desire and destination. His stories weave together a balanced view of nature and man living side by side. His stories are capable of evoking compassion and sensitivity, the twin characters of any good piece of literature. His stories have definite plots, a strong content along with tremendous flow of language. His stories seems to be rooted in Assamese culture and milieu but in some of his stories we find the characters drifting apart from their indigenous cultural background.
