Koh-i-noor Toison D’Or round soft pastels are extremely high quality soft pastels. The pastels are manufactured using the highest quality pigments which have been sourced from leading manufacturers around the world. Popular amongst artists for their high quality and wide color range the Toison D’Or Pastels offer a simple and silky stroke on paper due to the minimum content of binding elements used by them. The key components of the cakes are very pure micro-pulverized natural substances on a base of calcium carbonate. This is either calcite mineral or chalk. Together with other additives and binding agents it creates a basic mixture, into which colour pigments are carefully mixed. The primary characteristic of these round pastels is that they are easily wiped off the surface, which helps to spread the colourful dust all over the surface. This painting technique offers immense possibilities of changing the capacity and tone. With smudging and erasing we can readily achieve shades in the painting. The low adhesion to the medium allows toning and the creation of simple crossing. The lightfastness of the pastels and dosed concentration influence the final result as well as the durability of the artworks. After finalization of the artwork, the use of a preparation fixative is recommended (prevents subsequent blurring). Koh-I-Noor Toison D’or round soft pastel is available in 120 shades. No component used in production contains toxic or otherwise harmful substances and the final product is therefore suitable for all age categories.
