The book is one of the earliest creations by any writer from either Garhwal or Kumaun region and takes a look at the history of the region of Kumaun hills and its people. The book in itself is considered to be one of the most popular book to be written about the Kumaun hills and its first version was published in 1937 so it basically have the history before that period the book has been republished by Shyam Prakashan and carries some of the finest example of the use of Hindi language. The book tracks the history of Kumaun people and the Katyuri kingdom.
