  • Description

John P. Kotter’s seminal work on leadership and change management, Leading Change is now out in its second edition, and with a new preface.

    Summary Of The Book

Everyone deals with the phenomenon of change. It’s a part of our lives, and even more so in an organizational context. By observing the events of the recent times, such as the recession, it’s evident that global and widespread change is not an exception but the rule. Such change, however, influences leadership. And leaders across the world need to adapt quickly.

Leading Change is an expression of the author John Kotter’s ideas on leadership and change management. Leaders across organizations are increasingly adopting the eight-step process for managing change and creating positive results. The book sheds light on the process that an organization should undertake to achieve its goals, as well as on key aspects such as how even top performers are sometimes thwarted by the process of change.

For leaders who continually face the challenge of making change initiatives work, Leading Change makes for a practical resource.
The book is organized into three parts titled The Change Problem and Its Solution, The Eight-Stage Process, and Implications for the Twenty-First Century. Within these three parts are twelve chapters, some of which include Transforming Organization: Why Firms Fail, Successful Change and the Force That Drives It, Developing a Vision and Strategy, Communicating the Change Vision, Generating Short-Term Wins, and Leadership and Lifelong Learning.

Leading Change leaves its readers inspired, while arming them with the tools to spread the inspiration. This new edition introduces a new preface and seeks to make the content relevant and up-to-date. The book is a useful tool for senior and middle level executives as well as business students.
