Superb and Insightful introduction to finance and investment

How to go about learning, investing and earning as you go.

You'll appreciate this book best if you're totally new to investments (esp. in stocks), though the range of discussion is so broad as to include all kind of background information on many areas. This kind of experience can only come from an expert in the field. So it should be quite informative even for non-newbies.

This book is superb as it has the personal feel of a one-to-one talk.
As if the reader is having a talk with an expert...

    Intro to investing

A perfect book for someone who does not know a word about stock markets. This book starts with a short history of capitalism which gives you an insight into how this corporate world came to be. And what are its advantages. I was one of those who thought corporations have contributed little to make this world a better place. This book changed the way I think about them now.
Then, it moves on to explain the basics of investing. What options do we have in investing our money. What makes stocks t...

    Too basic, under whelming

Given that the author is one of the most successful fund managers' in the U.S, I expected something more than a plain vanilla recapitulation of the history of capitalism and the stock markets, and mostly it is this. There aren't too many insights he shares, I wasn't expecting him to share his trade secrets, but I didn't expect a basic capitalism 101 lecture from him either. The internet can do a good job of providing the basic ideas that this book provides. Not worth the money.

    Decent product

Well about the contents it is good but for the particular book I received, the binding of the book was not good. Pages tend to come out one by one as you go on reading. So check about the seller before you buy. Happy reading.

Very good book explaining capitalism, well known american companies and their products.
The author has looked around his surroundings and environment and explained the zigs and zags of stocks on the wall street. I prefer this book for every investor, it has enough information about how we should look at stocks, their fundamentals, balance sheets, profits, losses and picking the stocks on your basic understanding of their business.
