    Description

"Leela Naidu was listed as one of the five most beautiful women in the world by Vogue magazine. But she was much more. She was the fine-boned, haunting face in Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s Anuradha; she was the woman who refused to sign Raj Kapoor’s films four times; she was Dom Moraes’ muse, his unpaid secretary, his best friend. Jean Renoir taught her acting and Salvador Dali used her as a model for a Madonna. Leela is a memoir that is charming, idiosyncratic and a window to Leela’s intriguing life. Everyone who met her has a Leela Naidu story. This is her version. "

when pages get over but the fragrance remains

a beautiful diary, quite what Leela would like us to remember her audience. Portraying her as petite and perfect, all vulnerability kept out on purpose, the book is cinema material. It will be soon that this book will be seen on screen. Though as a reader I would have liked to know much more about the person Leela, but then that's ok, I loved what I read about Leela, the beautiful.

    A great read

The best thing about this book is its perfectly balanced wit. A very fluent humorous style, which probably should be credited to the writer/compiler, Jerry Pinto. It makes the book rise above normal autobiographies that try to portray the person in a certain light, even though in her own book Ms Naidu is never wrong, and maybe even tells some ( pretty readable) tall tales. :-) It's poignant in places without changing its tone-- you can feel Ms Naidu's pain on separation from her children-- ...
