    Lethal Spice: A Superbly-Written, Intensely-Gripping Murder Mystery

You just can't put this one down. A whodunnit in the best of traditions - red herrings, interesting characters, twists and turns, the plot has it all. Swati's fluent writing style makes for an effortless read. At times you want to stop and enjoy the writing but the plot is so compelling that you just keep turning the pages. Have promised myself will read it one more time just to enjoy the writing.

Served with Spice (of the best kind) !

The book is extremely well written and in many ways, is somewhere up at the top in the list of thrillers. Firstly, the plot-Has been developed quite well and just like the way anglers keep letting go and pulling back in phases, the author lets the imagination of the readers run wild thinking of who amongst the many characters was the likeliest murderer before whirring back the line and letting the real culprit be known. Secondly, the structure- the story swings from location to location givin...

    SUCH A BORE!!

Such a boring story..streched like rubber and will make you think more about how many pages are left for the climax rather than gluing you to the present situation!!Definitely not an intriguing story.Waste of money.

I wanted to give this book 4 rating ,but the I didn't like the Killer reveal . But hey, that's just my opinion.OK, rant over.
Now the positives- The author captures the atmosphere of Shimla beautifully. Not just Shimla, every location the main protagonist goes to. This was my first Swathi Kaushal book. So I was not familiar with the SP Marwah. Kudos for strong female officer who can be an excellent role model. ASP Sahay was also a great character.
    All the contestants were f...

    Ordinary

I don't know why and how the reviewers are going all "5 stars" on this but it isn't that good of a book. Ordinary writing and an ordinary plot. There's a quote that goes like, "a book dies every time you watch reality TV". Well, this book mixes reality TV and a pretty crappy plot. Well, whatever. You can kill time with it though.

    Tandoori Trials

Quite a transition, from Swati’s first book, A Piece of Cake, set in the world of Delhi yuppiedom to Lethal Spice, tackling a venomous murderer criss crossing the country from Simla to nature reserves to the beaches of Goa.The protagonists also have changed, with Lethal Spice marking the 2nd outing of Niki Marwah, a Superintendent of Police based in Shimla. With Top Chef, Swati adroitly latches on to the popularity of cooking shows like Master Chef Australia, and gives it some Big Boss like t...

    Warning! difficult to put down!

In Swati Kaushal's trademark lucid style, Lethal Spice is a riveting read. With mutliple sub plots that keep you coming back for more - this is a well written murder mystery by an accomplished writer.

    Truly masaledar! Wonderful, entertaining writing.

Such a perfect crime thriller to curl up with! Read in one sitting. The setting - the reality cooking show, the live shoot is different and yet familiar and is cleverly and excitingly used by the author. The personalities among the contestants of Hot Chef, the judges, and the supporting cast are etched out really well. Have always admired the author's use of dialogue and pace of narrative - from her first book Piece of Cake onwards - and her strengths are in ample display in this novel too! P...
