Life Is What You Make It is a fictional story about a strong female character whose life takes unexpected turns and how she uses her indomitable spirit to make the most of it.

    Summary Of The Book

Life Is What You Make It is a story about a young female protagonist whose life gets shaken by her destiny in a highly unexpected manner. Set across two Indian cities in 1989, the story begins when Ankita is shown to be reading letters that she exchanged with Vaibhav. And here onward, the reader is taken on a flashback story that relates the life of Ankita and how she ended up in a hospital.

Ankita is in her twenties and belongs to a conservative middle class family. Her parents are so strict that they do not even like her being friends with guys. She is a smart, career-oriented, confident, young, attractive, sweet, and happy go lucky girl. She has lots of friends and is wooed by many boys at her college. Her college life is what every youngster dreams of but Ankita does not underestimate the importance of studies as well. She secures a seat in a leading management school. She is one of the most happening girls in the college. However, at times she is haunted by some issues that she faced in her past.

Life seems to be sailing smooth for Ankita until one fine day when she is admitted to a mental hospital. Life suddenly snatches everything that Ankita had in her world in a cruel twist of fate. How did things change so badly? How will Ankita take this sudden blow of destiny? Will she survive it? Will she ever be able to live a normal life?

A love story at heart, this tale of unconquerable human spirit shows how Ankita does not succumb to her destiny and decides to fight back. It is an inspiring and moving account of determination and faith as Ankita challenges what destiny throws at her. It is a story that makes the reader question the very concepts of sanities and teaches the fact that life is what one makes of it. Moreover, the simple language and narration of Life Is What You Make It emphasizes that problems are never permanent and it is one’s spirit that can carve the path to one’s life.

Highly Disappointing. Not worth buying even for 60 rupees

I read this book, or more accurately tried to read this book. I was unable to finish this book because the author Preeti Shenoy tests your patience through an average story and horrible writing.

This book is an example of how poor some of the present Indian writing is, especially with some of these overnight "bestselling" Authors.

I passed this book to some of my friends and asked them to read. Not just me, even they found this book to be a piece of useless writing.

Very True 'Life is what u make it'

I ordered this book from Flipkart around two months back. But yesterday I opened it finally. And also completed in just one sitting.
I liked the starting and the way author created the suspense. I kept guessing the reason and was proved wrong at the end. Its very well written and is also a lesson for people who try to commit suicide. It tells you how important is your life and its very easy to enjoy it.

    Unimpressive & Uninspiring

I had bought this book after reading many good reviews here. But I was highly disappointed after reading it. Though the summary might sound intriguing and deep, it deals with everything that life is in a very shallow manner. The first half is pure popcorn affair, while the second half is dry and bland. The writing is pretty average and at times quite amateurish. The story of Ankita doesn't inspire you or move you at all. The only good thing about this book is its price. But then, wasn't that ...

Not what I expected of it!

On reading the book summary, I expected it would be a kind of inspiring story where Ankita would be surrounded by problems such as depression, career struggles, love-hate situations....and yet overcome them through her determination and shine as a successful person.

But, I was really disappointed as it turned out to be a mental-health related problem and where she is a mere patient using medication to get out of it. I couldn't understand where "determination" really came into picture as desc...

I bought this book after reading the reviews but felt highly disappointed for reading the story. This is the story of Ankita who faces severe ups & downs to finally leading to a normal life. U ll find it hard to digest the story when she is entertaining three guys where she is neither accepting their affections for her nor denying them as well and there u get the feeling that what would be the consequences of all these. First half is OK but the middle pages have been spared in fact wasted chu...
