Bitter gourd seeds are used for growing new plants, but they also have medicinal and nutritional applications. The seeds are a source of healthy fats, proteins, and antioxidants, though caution is advised as high doses may cause toxic effects.

Bitter gourd seeds grow best in well-drained sandy to sandy loam soil rich in organic matter, with an optimal pH of 6.0-7.0. Before planting, the soil should be prepared by adding compost or manure and ensuring good drainage. A balanced fertilizer is important for fruiting, but avoid excessive nitrogen which can lead to too many leaves.

To sow bitter gourd seeds, start by preparing the soil in a sunny location with good drainage. You can direct sow seeds about 1/2 to 1 inch deep after soaking them overnight, or start them indoors 3-4 weeks before the last frost. Space the seeds 12-24 inches apart and plant two seeds per spot, covering them with soil.
