Tomato seeds can be used for planting, food, and other products. They can be planted to grow more tomatoes, roasted as a snack, or processed into oils and protein supplements. Other uses include animal feed and creating food-preservation agents, while some studies highlight their potential health benefits.

Tomato seeds require well-drained, fertile soil with a pH of 6.0–7.0. Essential nutrients include high levels of phosphorus (P) for root growth, potassium (K) for fruit development, and calcium (Ca) and magnesium (Mg) for quality and overall health. Nitrogen (N) is important for early vegetative growth, but excessive amounts can inhibit fruiting.

To sow tomato seeds, moisten a seed-starting mix and fill seed trays or pots, then place 2-3 seeds in each cell, covering them with about 1/4 inch of soil and gently firming it down. Keep the mix consistently moist and in a warm place without direct light until seedlings sprout, then move them to a sunny location or under grow lights, keeping the lights a few inches above the emerging plants.

After seeds sprout, move them to a brightly lit area, ensure good air circulation, and begin watering from the bottom to prevent overwatering and disease. Once seedlings develop their first "true leaves," transplant them into individual pots, burying them slightly deeper to encourage more root growth.
