I had bought this book 6 months back went through recently. I found this book extremely good for beginners and for the best output I would suggest "Understanding Linux Kernel" in parallel for best output.

This is an exellent book for amateurs who looking to start learning Linux kernel. I recently started working on Androi keneld, this helped me understand what linux kernel is it all about.
The kernel in detail is very vast and complex. So it always make sense to get an overievew first of all the areas of kernel and then depending on your work/interest dive into one/others.

Its not a encyclopeida or bible for kernel.Don't buy with that expectation. Its a short guide or quick quide or starter...

I initially bought "Understanding Linux Kernel" which was at an expert level. This book provides a very good understanding for beginner level. I suggest to read both the books at the same time to get deep level of understanding.

On Linux Kernel, there are 2 books. I have both.
If you are novice to Computer Science, you probably want to get into this one.
Brilliantly written, lucid style, never boring, and has plethora of data points about Linux Kernel.
