Ratan Deo Singh, a mechanical engineer by profession, played a significant role in the industrial movement in India. He was instrumental in the establishment of an industrial area alongside the renowned Bokaro Steel Plant, which witnessed remarkable growth over the years. In 1982, Ratan formed an association to ensure smooth functioning and job distribution within the area, earning a legendary status. Despite facing chronic illness, he found solace in writing fiction. Ratan fearlessly dealt with various unions, including a hardcore Maoist group, effectively eliminating their influence from the region. He was also involved in social causes, notably as a founding organizer and president of an institution for the deaf and mute. Throughout his life, Ratan was known for his honesty, assertiveness, and modesty, leaving a lasting impact on the community of Bokaro Steel City.
