Born to Die, by Rhea Kumar

With an interesting and well crafted plot, this book makes for smooth reading. The writing style has a lightness of touch. The descriptions are delightful and the choice of adjectives and adverbs plain perfect. A must read for aspiring young writers struggling with writer's block- have an idea, have an imagination, have a technique and style of your own (however simple and straight) and you can do it.
Recommend schools to put it on their holiday- time reading list. Language teachers would al...

New and interesting!

'Born to Die' is an amazing book! The 'Grim Reaper' is a new theme and makes the book different from other fantasy fictions. The story moves at a rapid pace and it makes it difficult for us to keep the book down once we have started reading it.

The writing is simple and easy to understand. The characters are well sketched and relatable. Short diary entries of the protagonist are also interesting additions.

Every teenager would enjoy this!

Born to Die

I have had a love for reading ever since I was small. I am 10 years old now, and I’m very fortunate to have read many books. But out of all the books I have read, I would place “Born to Die” right at the top!

I bought this book at the book launch, taken in by the excitement of everyone around me, and I must say, that on reading the book, the excitement was fully justified.

The character Shreeya especially connected with me because I have an older brother, Ankit, and he is always thi...

Born To Die

Born To Die is an interesting read by a young writer who has handled the plot with
maturity, to an extent that it keeps the reader hooked till the end. With personalized interactions of characters with the reader through Diary entries the story flows and is well structured. Anime lovers might especially enjoy it as the details are vivid and apt for a fiction involving "Yamraj" , the Indian god of death. However the take on it is very new in ways, which adds more dimension to the plot itself ...

An example of extra ordinary literary talent

Born to die is an exciting story woven around interesting characters with intriguing twists and turns. Coming from a 17 year old, the book presents matured writing, a gripping story line, a tale that relates to fantasy world yet connects to the modern realities. The extra ordinary literary talent of young Rhea Kumar is clearly visible as one keeps turning the pages of the book with reasonable enthusiasm intrigued by the flow of events in the story. 'Does it matter which co...

Your karma decides if you go to Heaven or to Hell :)

The book is a great read and thought provoking giving you a glimpse of life after death! In particular, I love the way how Rhea, the author captures the thoughts of Yama before he lets out his judgement - if a soul should be sent to heaven or hell! It makes you think about your own actions and how it can be interpreted after you die. The characters are described beautifully and the story flows very smooth. I am not an avid book reader and have taken months to finish a book but found "Born to ...

Born to “Live”

This is a great first book written by an extraordinary talent. Though intended for 16 somethings, even adults would find it absorbing and thought-provoking. The setting is a little macabre as the prime character is the “Grim Reaper”, a teenager who, un-asked, is thrust into role of standing in Judgement of all creatures, human and otherwise. He has to overcome his own shortcomings and rise to the occasion. This then is a great story of character building in a deadly and adverse situation. The...

Must Buy... Cool and Interesting Read

Birth and Death define us in ways we are not aware and are also some how conducive to our purpose in this life. Born to Die is a 'hatke' take on this. Its a ride into a dark space which as the author portrays is not that dark & rather volatile and intense at the same time. One enjoys the story as it unfolds with the details well laid out. How attachments can create emotional upheaval even in after life? How affection & friendship changes attitude of an individuals are two issues that the auth...
