The video game was developed by Sega Studios Australia and published by Sega. The video game allows the use of the Kinect Sensor. This is very helpful addition as you need not use any controller to play the game. The Kinect sensor enhances your game play experience as the device tracks your hand and body movements and syncs them with the on-screen animations.
In the single-player campaign you can choose from over 30 national teams and attempt to win events for them. All the events have 2 rounds: qualifiers and finals. To win a medal you have to qualify for the finals and you can only do this by winning the qualifier round first. There is another mode in the game known as the Event mode that allows your pick events as you want.
The addition of Kinect feature allows you to have more fun as you can even have an exercise session while playing the games. Running games will require you to pump your hands and legs faster, hurdles event will make you jump higher and so on. The sensor accurately tracks you movements, making it easy to play the game. The events featured in the game range from aquatics, gymnastics, shooting, track and field events to beach volleyball and many others. The official venues such as ExCeL, Lord's Cricket Ground and the Olympic Stadium are created with expert detail.
If you like playing quick time events that are over in 10 seconds flat, then you are in for a treat. The game features quick time events such as diving, trampoline, pole vault and many others. The archery events are created with accurate detail as you have to notice elements such as wind speed, direction, gravity while taking a shot. All these additions give authenticity to the game.
If you like teaming up with friends to play games you can do it with London 2012 as it supports multiplayer. You can ask you friend to join a game you are playing using the Party Play mode. Compete against the best players across the world by challenging them online. You can track the medal count through leader boards, allowing you to know how you fared against others while playing the games. You can even earn National Pride points with each medal you win. The updates, demos, and other content for the game can be downloaded from Xbox Marketplace.
A minimum distance of 6 ft is essential between the player and the Kinect sensor when you are playing the game. More space is required if extra players join in. Try to place the gaming console in a living room or the main hall as you can have more freedom for your hand and body gestures. Ensure that that the room is properly lit. The even lighting will help the camera to easily track and capture your body movements to give you a seamless and entertaining gaming experience.
