Why is there a shipping charge for this item?

Sellers with Flipkart Assured waive off the delivery charge for Orders over Rs 500. For Orders under Rs 500, a nominal delivery charge is added per item.

Sellers without Flipkart Assured may or may not add a delivery charge to your Order. This is subject to Seller discretion.

What is the estimated delivery time?

Sellers generally procure and ship the items within the time specified on the product page. Business days exclude public holidays and Sundays.

Estimated delivery time depends on the following factors:

      • The Seller offering the product
      • Product's availability with the Seller
      • The destination to which you want the order shipped to and the Seller's location

Why does the delivery date not correspond to the delivery timeline of X-Y business days?

It is possible that the Seller or our courier partners observe a holiday between the day you placed your order and the date of delivery, which is based on the timelines shown on the product page. In this case, we add a day to the estimated date. Some courier partners and Sellers do not work on Sundays and this is factored in to the delivery dates.

Enter your pincode on the product page to know whether the product can be delivered to your location.

If you haven't provided your pincode until the checkout stage, the pincode in your last used shipping address will be used to check for serviceability.

Whether your location can be serviced or not depends on:

      • Whether the Seller actually ships to your location

At times Sellers prefer not to ship to certain locations. This is entirely at their discretion.

    Description

The book is the autobiography of the former president of South Africa, Nelson Mandela.

    Summary Of The Book

Born in a country torn by racial discrimination, Nelson Mandela dedicated his entire life fighting against apartheid and trying to achieve racial equality for his people. In Long Walk To Freedom, he tells the story of his life and struggles, a long and difficult journey to achieve liberation.

In the first section, he recounts his childhood days of growing up in a small village called Mvezo in the Eastern Cape Province. His family belonged to the royal Thembu dynasty; his great-grandfather was the king of the Thembu people. He reflects upon his early education, his days at the university, and his involvement with student politics.

In the next section of the book, he elaborates upon the early anti-apartheid movement with his induction into the African National Congress in 1950. He goes on to narrate the incidents that led up to his imprisonment for twenty-seven years and how he kept the fight going strong even from his prison cell.

Released in 1995, the book follows Mandela's journey till after his release from prison and his eventual election as the first black president of the South Africa. It received the Alan Paton Award in its year of release.

    About Nelson Mandela

Nelson Mandela is an internationally recognized political activist and former President of South Africa. He fought his entire life against apartheid and racial discrimination in his country.

He has written a number of books about his life and struggles, most notably his autobiography Long Walk To Freedom. Other books by him include Hunger For Freedom, The Struggle Is My Life, and I Am Prepared To Die. Many compilations of his speeches, letters and other writings have also been released.

Most of his books are autobiographical in nature. He wrote extensively about his political views and his contribution to the anti-apartheid movement. His memoirs serve not only as an insight into his personal struggles, they also retrace the socio-political history of South Africa.

Mandela was born in a small village located in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa. He studied law at the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. He became actively involved in politics through the African National Congress and was imprisoned for twenty-seven years under multiple charges. After his release in 1990, he facilitated the establishment of democracy in the country and became its first black president. He received numerous honours for his lifetime of struggle, including India’s highest civilian honour Bharat Ratna, the last Lenin Peace Prize from the Soviet Union, and the Nobel Peace Prize.

    Impeccable

Astounding it may sound; but yes, sometimes truth is really stranger than fiction. I still can't imagine the pain he took for his people. In this world so selfish and cynic, the devotion he showed for the freedom of his people is truly remarkable.

It is the story of a man who crossed the threshold of tolerance, courage and forgiveness. It changed a lot in me. A must read.

    Long live the struggle

The book is a sincere account of how mandela changed from a tribal boy to a truly mass leader. A vivid description has been given about various struggles waged by southafrican people. Although it is silent about acivities of other groups still worth reading for anyone interested in SA history and life of a great person.
