Breezy Read

This book qualifies for an enjoyable journey (bus, train or flight) reading, wherein you don't want to get too serious, but at the same time want to read some quality stuff. It's a 'Farhan Akhtar meets Satyajit Ray' kind of story. The storytelling is simple and quite realistic. It's about ambitions and aspirations, and what happens to them in the face of reality. The subject may not be a fresh one...the treatment certainly is. Calcutta as the backdrop adds to the charm. In a nutshell, a good ...

A nice,entertaining read..

Love,Films and Rock 'n' Roll is a book on love, life, music and turmoils of three strangers meeting by fate and becoming the best of friends. A book full of very well researched facts, providing lovely insights into Baul music and history, blending every layer of the story with ease and throwing in lovely intelligent puns in between the lines makes it a refreshing read. The sense of youthfulness and the fact that it make the read relatable to everyone between 20-40 doesnt let the speed or tempo ...

Definitely a good pick!!

The book is an interesting narration of how a simple rendezvous on the train can transform into a lifelong relationship. The story brings together various facets of India, the struggles of rebellious musicians, the intricate web of success in Indian entertainment industry and the simple yet complicated task of finding true love in a country of billions. The book gives a flavor of eastern India, a culture so integrally Indian and yet distinctive in its own way. Very lively and engaging book, d...

A Must have in your personal library.

A very well written book, full of humor and captivating moments which made me finish this book over a relaxing weekend in the sunderban. Characters in the book could have been brought out well and I feel that somewhere in part two of the book just zipped through.

Hats off to the author to share so much insights into the beginning of the Baul movement which was properly researched. There were some one-liners which made me burst into laughter. After Chapter 6, the story really gets interestin...

It Rocks

If you grew up getting introduced to Rock music in the 80's/90's as I did then this book will make you smile with its witty references to music and bands. Swayam did well to bring out that essence which I could relate with. Overall a nice, light, anytime read that I strongly recommend.

Nice Book good read

I found the humor in book really good. It has a sense of satire, it is practical and it isn't gaudy. That's a flair of writing that Swayam has brought out too well. I have laughed at some of the jokes and situations which are generously placed all throughout the book

The book is also contemporary and has a sense of nostalgia for the GenY - 1 type of crowd. The research done as part of writing the book and some of the facts stated in the book are worth digging in

Three young men of different...

Who has time for long reviews.

to be precise, i am not much of a reader, read this book by compulsion, took me 8 days to get it past the first 8 chapters, then only ONE, for the rest.

this book is about now and things happening to people who live in NOW.

The awesomeness level has set it's bar pretty high in accordance to the things related to the title of the book, i.e. Love films and music in general, based around West Bengal. honestly, at times i laughed out so loud, at the middle of the night, that had to take a paus...

A rollicking read

If you like music, you will love this book. If you like films, you will love this book. But this is really a book for anybody who likes a good, light read. This is as good a debut novel as any I've read in a long time. But what makes it special is how I could relate with so much of what the author was talking about. Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple....the entire 60s-80s rock scene seems to live through the pages of the book. And there's a merger with Indian folk music which is intere...
