    Atta Boy !!!

What a memoir, way back I read your book on Sanjay Gandhi - you have come a long way boy. All said and done this one takes the cake, its not only a page turner but is also a breeze. In this age of techno-gimmicks, this book has the old world charm about it. You cannot find too many faults with the man, and even if you find some, in the course of the book you will find he had already owned them up.

Its a must read for -
    1. Anyone who has remotely anything to do with journalism (lessons t...

    All about Vinod Mehta!

I loved the first half of this book. It is awesome. It describes the days of Vinod Mehta in Lucknow, London and then in Bombay. But the other half of the book is not too good(for me). It is more politically inclined. It would have been better if Vinod Mehta would have been more neutral. I wont review his political predilections because I am in no position to do so. Overall a nice book with lot of interesting stories about various people. Ending could have been better. Would suggest this to ev...

    Inspirational

When I first read the title of this book, it appealed me becoz I belong to the same city. After reading the book I feel proud of his achievements. His journey from Debonair to Outlook is inspirational. This book is written very simply and captures so well the old world charm of Lucknow. His personal overviews on political situations and various political leaders are a joy to read to. Overall, a great book by a master journalist.

    Captivating

I was always a fan of Vinod Mehta - whether it is his last page column in 'Outlook' or his views on TV, his unique observations, keen insights and the way he presents it right across you kept you captivated. The moment I knew he had come up with a memoir I wanted to grab a copy. Thanks to Flipkart the book was in my house on the 4th day.
And Vinod Mehta has made me a greater fan after reading 'Lucknow Boy'! His description of the sixties Lucknow, the general psyche of the youth, his life, the...

    Meeting the Lucknow Boy

All in all, I am really glad to have met the Boy from Lucknow. He confirms my view of the world that random good things happen even to random people who have a conviction, a faith in their heart. A faith that guides all their actions focused towards attaining a fulfilling life. I once read a joke which went:

“A writer dies and reaches the portal to God’s kingdom. His sins and good deeds are weighed and by a queer chance they balance out in number. God ponders it over and offers the writer a ...

    Lucknow Boy: Memoir

Amazing! You can never start learning and learning to be honest is the toughest of them. This memoir teaches you a lesson or two on this fundamental aspect of life. If being honest means taking pot shots on others and geting loads of them on your face, then one does need to watch out. Mr. Mehta's book can help us understand what superficiality means. Just love the disoriented start of the book and thats where the strength of the book lies. A whole bunch of people out there can relate to how ...

    Fabulous Memoir

A must read ! Both this and its sequel ! Here is an individual who was demonstrably in trouble for espousing "freedom of the press".Throughout his long career,he was never labelled or associated with any other body.Surprisingly frank and unvarnished.Very frank about himself also ! Eminently readable and gives us an insight into many public figures, dealings and workings from a relatively impartial person(there is no perfectly impartial person).Indians have a traditionally rosy picture of whom ...

Read it, if you are a Vinod Mehta Fan

If you are a fan of Mr. Mehta, then this book is a must read. Though, personally I would have liked a little more of him in this book, but ultimately, you can't put all your life's event in a book. It's not humanly possible. I specially liked the part where he tells about his life in Lucknow and the way he always kept going back to his younger days in the city and how that has helped him in his life ahead.
