M.S. Subbulakshmi  (Paperback, Gowri Ramnarayan, Sriram V)

This issue, predictably, is one of homage to M.S. Subbulakshmi. It may look as if we are late in coming out with it, but the December issue went to press three days before she passed away. We have endeavoured to collect and publish as many photographs of her, not usually seen or available, as possible so as to make it attractive for readers to retain in her memory. We are grateful to the famous photographer Avinash Pasricha for providing us with many of these and have no doubt that our readers will be struck, as we in Sruti were, by these excellent examples of the photographer's art. There cotild have been no fitter person on whom this art could have been practised by this great photo artist than M.S. Subbulakshmi. The tributes, from the Sruti staff as well as others, deal with different aspects of her greatness.
