Manusmruti or Manava-DharmaShastra : This is said to be the best and most authoritative of the books of the Hindu law code (Dharma-Shastra). It is attributed to the first man – Swayambhuva Manu, the son of Brahaman and is compiled by Bhrigu, one of the ten Prajapatis or the lords of beings . Keeping its original Sanskrit text, this is a translation in Marathi. It prescribes Dharma or duty of each Hindu, stating obligations attached to his or her social class and stage of life.
