About the Authors

Edwin J. Elton is the Nomura Professor at the Department of Finance at the Leonard N. Stern School of Business, New York University.
He is the former president of the American Finance Association and has received the Graham Dodd award and the James Vertin Lifetime Achievement Award from the Financial Analyst Federation for his work in investment and finance. He was also named the Distinguished Scholar by the Eastern Finance Association and is a fellow of the American Finance Association and the Institute for Quantitative Analysis.

Martin J. Grueber is a Professor Emeritus and Scholar in Residence at the Department of Finance, the New York University Stern School of Business. A graduate of M.I.T., he obtained his MBA and Ph.D. from Columbia University, studying Production Management and Finance and Economics respectively. He is also the Director at the National Bureau of Economic Research and the Director of the Japan Equity Fund and Singapore Equity Fund.

Stephen J. Brown is the David S. Loeb Professor of the Department of Finance at the New York University Stern School of Business. A graduate of the Melbourne High School and the Monash University in Australia, he obtained his MBA and Ph.D. from the University of Chicago. A former Member of Technical Staff at Bell Laboratories and Associate Professor at Yale University, he is a Managing Editor of The Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis and has served on the editorial board of The Journal of Finance and is on the board of the Pacific-Basin Finance Journal.
