    Description

A murder mystery by acclaimed novelist Agatha Christie, Murder on the Orient Express takes the reader along with investigator Hercule Poirot in solving the brutal killing of kidnapper Samuel Edward Ratchett on board the Orient Express.

    Summary Of The book

Soon after arriving at his hotel in Istanbul, private investigator Hercule Poirot is instructed to return to London immediately. He boards the Orient Express that very night and is accosted by Mr. Ratchett, whom he had earlier seen in his hotel in Istanbul. He attempts to hire Poirot believing that his life is under threat, but the detective refuses him outright.

On the second night of the journey, a snowdrift brings the train to a halt. A cry from Ratchett’s coach pierces the eerie silence of the night. The next morning, M. Bouc, the director of the company that operates the train and an acquaintance of Poirot, informs him of the shocking murder of Ratchett. Upon his request, Poirot agrees to investigate the case. Soon Poirot learns of Ratchett’s questionable past and the probable reasons for his murder.

In the United States a few years earlier, Daisy Armstrong, a 3 year old heiress was kidnapped and killed by a man, who went by the name Cassetti, in spite of collecting a ransom from her wealthy family. Suspected to have rigged the trial, Cassetti fled the country after his acquittal. Poirot came to the conclusion that Ratchett was none other than Cassetti.

What connects the people in Ratchett’s coach who were travelling with him on that fateful night of the murder? Is one of the members of the Armstrong family the murderer?

Murder on the Orient Express has been adapted to TV, film and radio as well. The book was first published in 1934.

    Worth reading

This is the first book of agatha christie iam reading and i should tell that iam totally addicted to her way of story telling. It really keeps you guessing one after other but every guesses goes wrong. The kind of situations she keeps and the drams she maintains makes you to read it at once without closing the book till you see the last page. I was so impressed by the way she portray the story and a THUMBS UP for that. Now i have ordered AND THEN THERE WHERE NONE which is regarded as christie...

Sheer Brilliance- Masterpiece of Christie; Shocked by some of the reviews that are simply baseless.

Well this was the first Christie that I read and I have now almost read them all. It still remains my favorite. I still remember reading it at night with hours passing by and the mystery getting deeper, as if I was on the orient express with Poirot, having only a few hours to find the culprit. No one comes in and no one can go out, all are stranded, as if, a brief period of time is frozen, by the very snow that surrounds and blocks train, during which the events unfold. At one time Poirot is ...

Not the best when it comes To A.C.

the plot; yes at first it become interesting, the murder of the person, and poirots Procedure for solving the case all good, but as the book goes on, it really becomes assumable about the whole Cruz of the plot and who all is involved
the movie; i have to say after reading the book, knowing the plot watching the movie would be quite bore, but incase of this Title....
i Might say the movie is better then the book...

    My No.1 AC novel

I would rate it 5/5. Loved every part of the novel. This was my third novel after And then There were None, Murder of Roger Acroyd. I would second And Then There were none to Murder on Orient Express and love the way how POIROT unravels the mystery. Love the ending too. JUSTICE IS SERVED

    QUITE GOOD,BUT FOR HER LONG.................

The book you may choose to have in your hands should worth the price it costs. And no wonder it is such a book. There are no wonder several perspectives of seeing a book, this when I view from the optimistic perspective I get dazzled by its brilliance,an unpretentous brilliance that stole my words to describe it.However the pesimistic perspective strolls long that may disappoint you, taunt you and make you feel uncanny;that it ambles about the fact that the book beats much around the bush;such ...

A Masterpiece - Highly unpredictable and brilliant page turner - Christie at her best!

A man is murdered in a moving train... Door locked from inside... Every passenger has a strong alibi... Flawless suspense novel.

An Amazingly unpredictable plot. The journey on Orient is described in the most inviting way inducing in the reader, the nostalgic feeling of the Europe post world war 1.

The Murder on the Orient Express matches the brilliance of 'And then there were None,' and 'The Murder of Roger Ackroyd.'

Must read for those who love suspense novels or those who want to dev...
