Description

Murder on a Side Street is a crime thriller, and features a plot that is centered around a murder mystery.

Summary Of The Book

Murder On A Side Street, written by Salil Desai, is a mystery story in which six friends play amateur detectives. They are friends of the accused, Sandeep.

The six friends support Sandeep, who has been accused of murdering Ravinder Wadhwa, his abusive boss. The friends, who have just finished college, try everything in their power to prove Sandeep’s innocence. They follow up on clues, compile a list of other possible suspects, interview people, and do whatever it takes to help their friend. Their list of suspects includes characters such as Meera Wadhwa, Pankaj Malhotra, Narayan Shetty, Naveenbhai Laddha, Brajesh Jani, Vineeta Bakshi, and Raju. This list also features Wadhwa’s wife and son.

The plot is tightly woven, and the story is peppered with interesting twists and turns and false leads to keep the readers guessing. The characters are attractively framed, and the pace of the book is fast. Humor is nicely used to relieve the building tension as readers get involved in the tale.

A Great Try

If you are addicted to "Crime and Detective" genre then you should probably read the books by James Hadley Chase. I bought this one because of the good reviews it garnered. But the book did not live up to my expectations since I have read better crime novels by Raymond Chandler and Chase.Nevertheless I am happy that one of the Indian authors has decided to try his hand at crime genre rather than following the footsteps of Chetan Bhagat.

Totally Disappointed,

If you are an avid reader of Agatha Christie, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, John Grisham novels, you would hardly find it interesting enough to read this one. Hinglish novel and a nice try to woo Indian readers.
Totally disappointed with the nice reviews given by the others; which prompted me to own this book. It turned out to be a boring one, still read it completely as I had spent a considerable amount of money over it.
If you like Agatha Christie and John Grisham kinds ... plz refrain yourself...

He's proved once again that he is one of the best crime-thriller writers of India. Basically it's a story of six college friends who, just one year out of MBA college, are bored with their jobs (as we all usually are). But then life takes an unexpected turn and one of them is accused of murdering his abusive boss while the other five know he is innocent. They resolve to investigate the murder of his boss and prove their friend's innocence. If you love thrillers, you wouldn't like to miss this...

Short and Gripping

It is one of those books which, if you start reading, can't be put down until it is finished. The plots are well created and also well resolved. There are no loose ends as such. Though never in the league of Agatha Christie and such, it is delightfully mysterious & it also keeps you guessing who dun it till the very end. Only if the print would have been on a larger font,it would have ben easier to read.
