My Idea Of Education focuses on Swami Vivekananda’s views on education and the major role that it plays in society as well as in the life of an individual. Swami Vivekananda is of the opinion that it is extremely important for an individual to be able to control his mind and desires completely. He maintains that this is important so as to reach a higher level of knowledge.

The theory of Brahmacharya has been advocated here as the author is of the opinion that it is vital to detach oneself from the world in order to achieve knowledge. The author then goes on to state that education is an accessory that can help the individual grow tremendously. Education can be used to reach a higher level in society as well.

Swami Vivekananda gives a lot of importance to the role played by teachers and parents in the process of educating children. The author goes on to say that these two people groups must encourage the child to connect with his or her inner self as quickly as possible, as this is necessary.

About Swami Vivekananda

The author of this book, Swami Vivekananda, was also a renowned Hindu monk from India.

Vivekananda was born on the 12th of January 1863, in Calcutta, India. He earned a bachelor’s degree in arts, which he completed in 1884. He was a well-known yogi, who introduced Hinduism at the Parliament of The World’s Religions, Chicago, in the year 1893. He passed away on the 4th of July 1902, as a result of ruptured blood vessels in the brain.
