Why is there a shipping charge for this item?

Sellers with Flipkart Assured waive off the delivery charge for Orders over Rs 500. For Orders under Rs 500, a nominal delivery charge is added per item.

Sellers without Flipkart Assured may or may not add a delivery charge to your Order. This is subject to Seller discretion.

What is the estimated delivery time?

Sellers generally procure and ship the items within the time specified on the product page. Business days exclude public holidays and Sundays.

Estimated delivery time depends on the following factors:

      • The Seller offering the product
      • Product's availability with the Seller
      • The destination to which you want the order shipped to and the Seller's location

Why does the delivery date not correspond to the delivery timeline of X-Y business days?

It is possible that the Seller or our courier partners observe a holiday between the day you placed your order and the date of delivery, which is based on the timelines shown on the product page. In this case, we add a day to the estimated date. Some courier partners and Sellers do not work on Sundays and this is factored in to the delivery dates.

What do the different tags like 'In Stock', 'Available' mean?

      'In Stock'

Products‘In Stock’ are readily available with seller.

      'Back In Stock Soon'

The item is popular and is sold out. You can however 'book' an order for the product and it will be shipped according to the timelines mentioned by the Seller.

      'Temporarily Unavailable'

      'Out of Print'

This product is not available because it is no longer published and has been permanently discontinued.

Why does the estimated delivery time vary for each seller?

Delivery times are influenced by product availability, geographic location of the Seller, your shipping destination and the courier partner's time-to-deliver to your location.

Please enter your default pin code on the product page to know more accurate delivery times on the product page itself.

Seller does not/cannot ship to my area. Why?

Enter your pincode on the product page to know whether the product can be delivered to your location.

If you haven't provided your pincode until the checkout stage, the pincode in your last used shipping address will be used to check for serviceability.

Whether your location can be serviced or not depends on:

      • Whether the Seller actually ships to your location
      • Legal restrictions, if any, in shipping particular products to your location
      • The availability of reliable courier partners in your location

At times Sellers prefer not to ship to certain locations. This is entirely at their discretion.

    Description

My Story is one of the most controversial and popular autobiographies written by an Indian author. Kamala Das has presented her life story in the form of a novel, being frank and strikingly sincere throughout. The autobiography is called Ente Katha in Malayalam.

    Summary of the Book

Kamala Das (also known as Madhavikutty and Kamala Surayya) was always vocal about her experiences as a woman, writer, wife, mother and everything else that she was, through her writings. Ente Katha was serialized in the now defunct Malayalam weekly, Malayalanadu, in 1972. Kamala Das has spoken frankly about her marriage experiences, her children, extramarital affairs, her life as a famous and controversial writer. Although the novel evoked violent positive and equally negative reactions, its publication wasn’t stopped. The novel was first published in English in February 1973, and has been translated into several other languages.

    About Kamala Das

Kamala Das was born in 1934 in the Malabar District, British India. She was the poetry editor of Illustrated Weekly of India. She penned hundreds of poems and stories in both Malayalam and English. Her columns were famous and widely read in India, through which she addressed a wide spectrum of matters like child care, women’s issues, and politics. She was also the esteemed VC of Kerala Sahitya Akademi, and the President of the Kerala Children's Film Society. Kamala Das was nominated for the 1984 Nobel Prize for Literature. Her works have been translated into several different Indian and foreign languages, including German, French, Russian, Japanese and more. She travelled to different countries to read poetry, including Adelaide Writer's Festival, South Bank Festival, London, and the University of Bonn. Das was honoured with the prestigious Sahitya Akademi Award and the PEN Poetry Prize. In the year 1999, she was yet again in controversy as she converted to Islam and changed her name from Kamala Das to Kamala Surayya. She passed away in the year 2009, at the age of 75. Some of her most notable works as a writer are Sandal Trees, Only the Soul Knows How to Sing, A Childhood in Malabar: A Memoir, and The Kept Woman and Other Stories.

    Marvelous Story

Very few autobiographies have been written with such wit and truthfulness. Writing "My Story" was an exalting experience for Kamala Das; reading it, is still more exalting. You can feel, as Kamala Das herself says, as if you were traversing the long journey of her life with her, together.

    An unconventional book

I had always wanted to read a Kamala Das novel and this is a novel I am particularly fond of. Kamala Das's autobiography is unlike anyone I had read before. She was born in Thrissur District in Kerala and the book is a candid account of her own life. She was truly ahead of her times. A fine sense of intellect shines all through this autobiography. If you want to read something truly nostalgic about life in Kerala then this is the book you are looking for. Really, a devastating book (I have ev...

    Mind-blowing purchase

This is one of my favourite autobiographies without any doubt. Kamala Das captures the life of Indian women back in the 90's and captures the nuances of being a good wife, daughter, mother and a successful writer. You will fall in love with her writing style by the end of the book. I think she is one of the few authors who can capture the harsh realities of life and still not make it look tragic in the readers eyes. If you are looking for a very real autobiography of an Indian women from...

    Too Good ,A Must Read

I think its a must read for every woman living in a society where men would even limit the imagination of a woman. The book voiced desires long suppressed. An honest and uninhibited tale told by Kamala Das
