    Description

My Way Is The Highway is the story of a twenty-something girl who sets out on a road trip, stumbling onto one adventure after another, while eventually being transformed by her journey.

    Summary Of The Book

My Way Is The Highway is Urvashi Gulia’s debut novel. It narrates the story of Mansha Sharan, a girl who embarks on a solo road trip. The book can been classified under chick lit, a genre that presents a lighthearted and humorous take on the life of the modern woman.

Mansha Sharan, or Manki, is a lively, often foul-mouthed, Delhi-based TV reporter in her late twenties. She lives life on her own terms.

Manki lives alone, works way too much, and despises her lecherous boss. She also binges on omelettes, cigarettes, caffeine, and alcohol. She also has a weird habit of naming pretty much everything, including her possessions. She even calls her jeep Iqbal Mastani.

Manki’s sleazy boss is the bane of her life. He incessantly creates trouble for her. One day, when he passes on her exclusive story to another reporter, Manki’s frustration reaches boiling point. In the heat of the moment, she walks out on her boss. She then sets outs on an impulsive road trip to the mountains with Iqbal Mastani for company.

On her trip, she meets cute guys who take her camping and fishing. She also does things she wouldn’t have normally done. To top it all off, she ends up falling in love.

The book progresses in a linear fashion and covers Manki’s soul-searching journey as she takes in interesting new experiences, encounters new people, and undergoes an inner transformation of sorts.

    Great going Urvashi!

So I went online to order the book I was super excited to read and it was already out of stock!! After pre ordering and much wait it finally arrived and boy! What a read... For someone who usually doesnâ??t read, keeping up till 0200hrs and finishing it was quite a thing.
Itâ??s also probably one of those books I finished in record time considering I take ages to finish a book.
I think itâ??s a lovely read and Urvashi definitely has a knack of narration and storytelling. I could feel I was c...

Makes me wanna take the road trip :)

It is noisy insight into the mind of a young, independent and "sorted" girl. I always feel that the challenges faced by a single woman with respect to her career during the early stages, creative and personal growth and uncertainties of the near future are quite underrated in our society. The anxiety and stress is not a well understood or accepted among most people and the unawareness of these aspects takes a lot of us down like a deer in headlights. Even if we are in the company of like-mind...

    Fresh and honest

Having been a TV journalist, I could not help but fall in love with this book and its central charactor Manki. A beautifully woven narrative of this dreamer and free bird takes the reader through many interesting yet behind the scene realities of journalists' lives in Indian media. Although a work of fiction, as a journalist I was rather amused to find semblences with real life. This book made me smile and cry. When you thought chicklets were getting lost in the flurry of chic flicks, this co...

    Delightful!

A fun read guaranteed to make you laugh and leave you feeling like you know Manki or at least that you would like to know her.

The writing is fresh, frenzied and frighteningly romantic. It pulls you in despite your cynicism about what appears to be chicklit and a story of 'finding yourself'.

I must warn potential readers about the speed at which Manki's thought process moves - its a veritable roller-coaster ride so hop on if you're prepared. Definitely not for the faint-hearted! ;)

My way is the highway - Urvashi Gulia

Absolutely loving this one! It's so unabashedly open, bleeding hilarious and a story that will inspire anyone who wants to do what they want to do, at the very exact moment they want to do it... A task that seems easier said than done nowadays. I definitely recommend this to everyone....might buy another couple of copies for my friends as well. Good stuff Ms. Gulia! Will be back here once done with the book. Just totally exciting!

    Average, light read...

The title and cover of the book got me interested. For someone who dabbles in writing periodically and is no where close to being a voracious reader, I'd say this was an average read that one can breeze through.
