Literally translated as Our Nation, Nam Nadu is a 1969 classic that stars two of the most famous actors turned politicians, M.G.R and Jayalalitha in the male and female leads respectively. The plot of this movie deals with the struggles of the average citizen when going up against a group of powerful, corrupt and traitorous government officials.
The story revolves around an honest low ranking government official who goes out of his way to protect the rights of the poor, helpless and the needy. The clever planning and execution of protagonist’s various schemes is a major highlight in the movie as it sets in motion a series of unexpected twists and turns that is sure to keep you at the edge of your seat.
With supporting performances by esteemed actors like Thanga Velu, Nagesh, Ashogan and Thengai Srinivasan, this movie also stars a very talented little girl, who would then go on to become one of Indian film industry’s most recognised leading ladies, Sridevi. Directed by Jambu with the famous M. S. Vishwanathan composing the tunes and melodies for this film, Nam Nadu is a sure family entertainer, especially for those ardent M. G. R or Jayalalitha fans.
