    Description

Navarasa by Lotus is a short story collection written by an engineering graduate, Rajiv Kumar. It is the debut book of the author, who brings together a collection of stories from across different genres. As the name suggests, the book presents stories that reflect various rasas, including compassion, love, humor, heroism, disgust, fury, wonder, peace, and horror. Though all the stories are vivid and independent, they are interlinked with each other in a delicate manner. The nine stories presented in this book cross paths mainly because of interrelated characters and situations. The first story is about a movie-star who fades away because of his need to have everything under his control. The second story is about a young man who takes justice into his hands and assumes the role of a masked vigilante. The third story is about a mosquito that has a strong determination to fight against human domination. The fourth story revolves around an unmarried couple, about to go through a break-up. The fifth story reveals the tale of a woman who is enigmatic yet elusive, and who feels frightened of her own dreams. The sixth story describes a school kid who wishes to vent out his anger. The seventh story reflects the fate of the contemporary society post 2012. The eighth and ninth stories encompass concepts like addiction and redemption.

Rajiv Kumar completed his engineering from the B.M.S. College of Engineering, Bangalore. He was born and raised in Bangalore, and still resides there. He aims to become a screenwriter in the future. He has co-authored another book, titled The Long View From Delhi.

    Absolute page turner!!

Absolute Page turner!gripping tales from the beginning to the end. simply loved the story where a mosquito gangs up against humans! Totally new experience in reading a collection of short stories...as they all are interlinked with awesome twists.
For the first time I felt a masked vigilante story was pretty realistic. I just couldn't stop myself from reading the last six stories back to back, they are mind blowing! Two stories into the book, i didn't feel like reading short stories at all...

    An Awesome-read!

I was a bit hesitant to actually pick this book as the genre on Flipkart said "short stories" BUT...I think they need to create a new genre to fit this book into an appropriate genre!!

The styles of narrations used in it is mind blowing and an awesome experience to read. Non-linear, Linear, Third Person POV, First Person narration...and more!

Completely bowled over by the last story, with the way things turn around and the way I was made to connect the dots! Pretty good!

    The only minor min...

    Good Reading

I began reading this book with some apprehensions as I am not the one to prefer short stories. But as I progressed and by the time I reached â??Mutinyâ?, I was very impressed by the way characters evolved and I just could not keep the book down and had to finish it completely.

I felt Mutiny is the best of this series and really enjoyed reading it. If fact I ended up sympathizing with mosquitoes. It really highlights the imagination of the writer and the way he has been able to recreate it ...

    it's different!

    It was a refreshing read!!
What I liked the most, and why I recommend this to others is that
each of the stories though interconnected, they are totally different in the way stories are told, the topics handled and of course the way one is made to connect the dots at end of the book deserves an applause!

am surprised that this book has got only handful of reviews here so far!
