Get ready to experience the extreme exhilaration that one can get from setting the streets on fire by driving a car with the gear cranked and the speeds topped! Need For Speed: Most Wanted is a single-player/multiplayer racing video game for the PS2 console. Developed by EA Black Box and published by Electronic Arts, this installation of the Need For Speed series has been given an ESRB rating of Teen.
The premise of this game's plot is fairly simple. In Rockport City, there are a handful of illegal street racers who have crews and compete on the streets for name, fame and glory. However, the vandalistic acts of these miscreants attract the attention of the police and they wish to put the offenders behind bars. The chase between the official authorities and the car driving outlaws is central to this game.
The gameplay sees the player picking a car from the many beautiful supercars that are available and the races against other drivers or against a time limit. As the game progresses and the player accomplishes more tasks, he or she gets more luxurious cars. The nitrous oxide speed boosts remain in this version as well and the oxide meter refills itself automatically. There are three game modes; Quick mode, Career mode and Challenge Series. The latter of the aforementioned modes is a new addition and is further divided into Tollbooth races and pursuit challenges. A meter which tells the heat, or the amount of police attention you have on you, has been implemented as well. Racing modes such as Circuit, Sprint, Lap Knockout and Drag remain intact and inherited from the predecessors of Most Wanted.
