A story represents bits of our day-to-day experiences, isn’t it? So as characters, Suman is seen as a failure while Arindam reaches the pinnacle of his career. However we can’t really distinguish between them when both stand on the borderline of life and death. While on the other hand, Srabani, Arunima, Suparna and Fulmatiya have their own different struggles to survive. Even though they have different economic status, they all end up in the commonness of failing sometimes or winning even after losing. Girls like Sonai and Suparna are still faced with gender bias in family and society which are not so influenced by the fast approaching so called “developing’ world. They break the shackles binding them to move forward with their lives. Also, Nonigopal and Nayantara are the reflections of today’s world full of laughter and humor. God is so much more than a well decorated stony figure. It’s about everything good in this world, it’s about the purity of the souls and the deeds. History never writes a conclusion but keeps going on as an immortal classic. Thus powerful characters like Rabindranath Tagore, Netaji, Vangog, Mozart and Leonardo Da Vinci are still alive with us. Also the legacy of a courageous teacher like Udayan Pandit in Satyajit Ray’s ‘Heerak Rajar Desh’ lives on, he being the only person who could never be brainwashed. Such was his belief in himself and his ideas. Isn’t he so much needed by our present generation? He was someone who would value his education and not sell away his individuality to petty pleasures. So will they be able to sail across an ocean full from emotions, dissolving their bits and getting lost in togetherness? Will they be able to stand against the time as an all-burnt-image holding up a mirror to the wrongs? Will these ever living souls be able to lead the society from darkness to enlightenment?
