Neti Pots to Ease Your Sinuses

Sinusitis is an inflammatory disease, where the air pockets lining your sinuses get blocked with hard mucus. A neti pot, can help ease your discomfort. Most people who suffer from inflamed sinuses are allergic to dust, or react negatively to freezing temperatures. There are several other people, who suffer with sinusitis because it can also be hereditary. Whatever the reason, inflamed sinuses can cause splitting headaches, along with pain under your eyes and on your cheekbones. When your sinuses are inflamed, the pain can be intense enough to cause nausea and irritability. For the people who suffer from this disease, it is one of the most stubborn diseases to control and get relief from. Most sinus patients use an array of home remedies along with medicines, to relieve the pain. Steam treatment is one such method. The steam loosens the mucus so that it can easily flow out of your nose and relieve your nasal congestion.

The other solution is the process of nasal irrigation, where the mucus from your sinuses are flushed out. This is a thrice-a-week ritual that is known to provide relief to patients. This process also prevents the crusting of mucus in your sinuses. Now, if you wish to practice nasal irrigation, you would require a neti pot. This product is easily available on online shops such as Flipkart, which host a wide range of such items from brands such as Pin to Pen, Healthlave, Epzy, Yogasadhak and more. However, before you go shopping for this product, let’s take a look at how to use it.

How to Use a Neti Pot

Neti pots are easy to use. All you need is distilled water, which is easily arranged by boiling water and then letting it cool down. You also require a 3:1 mixture of iodide- and preservative-free salt and baking soda. You can store this mixture in a clean and air-tight jar. Mix 1 teaspoon of this solution, with the distilled water in the pot. The pot here looks like a cross between a tiny kettle, and a magic lamp. Now, you have to stand over the sink and tilt your head at angle of 45-degrees. Pour the water through one nostril and it will automatically flow out of the other, while cleaning out your sinuses in the process. Refill the pot, and repeat the process again with your other nostril. Then, you need to clean up the pot well, and let it out to dry.

Story of Neti Pot

The jal neti pot finds its roots in the Indian yogic and ayurvedic culture. The design and method of its use begin from India. Earlier, people used either an earthen pot or a copper neti pot. However, modern technology and design ideas have ensured that these pots are made of several materials. You can find plastic neti pots, ceramic pots, stainless steel pots and more. So, if you suffer from sinusitis then go ahead and shop for a neti pot today.
