This is my first SLR Can have bought this recently with considering many reviews and "hands on" videos on YouTube...!
Many things to describe about this product and its functions which are loaded in it and you can take total advantage of it during you photography...

Really good camera.. Image quality is superb.
As with any other DSLR, good lens is required.

Works good in almost every light condition.

in the range of 25K to 35K, i guess Nikon D5100 would surely stand out.

Best for beginners.

Started learning using this camera. Its simple to use, lots of handy features and easy to operate, you can also configure which what some buttons do like setting for iso or so...
It comes with 18-55 kit, try buying body only and then swap for a a slightly better lens.
there is no problem with 18-55 but its zoom is too small...
but except that..the camera is pure awesomeness

I am not much of a technical guy for DSLR (started learning with Nikon D5100) , after a lot of research and comparison decided to buy this DSLR and believe me guys you wont regret. A perfect start for beginners.

I was stunned by looking at the Flipkart delivery, awesome packing and goodies are very fine, satisfied.

D5100 - Is a very good for a smart and angle shoot.
The 15-88mm lens was great.
I prefer 5100 NIKON rather than canon, u hav more options here whn u compare with any other at this price range.

If you are planning for a basic level DSLR, please buy this one.

Outside flipkart you get little less, but check with free gifts like bag(worth 3k) and 4GB card (300bugs).

Bought D5100 about a year back and very satisfied with the still pictures as it requires negligible post processing. Kit lens 18-55 is great; but had to buy 55-200 and a prime 50mm (bought from Flipkart). Added UV filter for all the lenses and lens cleaning kit.

Soon after buying the camera had the opportunity to attend a fine basics program from Nikon School.

Happy that I had decided on D5100.

As always, the delivery was on time and the packaging ensured that the contents are well protected.

The camera's biggest advantage over other Nikon models is its pivoted screen that will help you clicking snaps from different angles. However, the camera does not have the view finder sensor that automatically switches between the LCD and the viewfinder.

Overall, its a great buy.

Awesome camera..There are cameras with price less than from Canon & even Nikon but feature wise you get what you pay.
It has better video quality than canon. It is also more megapixel than canon.
So far I have not faced any problems with this camera. A must for photographers and people who go out usually.

It's an awesome camera and it has brought professional touch to my hobby of photography.

Feeling gr8 to have it in my hand.

1. Excellent kit lens (Ken Rockwell rates it amongst Nikon's 10 best lenses). It almost rivals my old Minolta Rokkor 50m prime.
2. Excellent control over color and sharpness- true to life and saturated; not artificial looking.
3. Articulated monitor- greatly eases shooting in odd positions (though there is a caveat to this- see cons)

This is a fantastic camera. No need to think twice about it. If you are interested in still photography and are just starting out with DSLRs, choose this. I recommend it over Nikon D3200 and Canon EOS 600D/550D.

The performance is fantastic. Kudos to Nikon!
