This is my first DSLR cam. This cam is good with respect to day time shooting but definitely not recommending for night time specially if you don't have enough surrounding light. Apart from that everything else is good. This cam does have everything that you expect in a DSLR. I really like the screen flipping part. Still lot of things to learn about this camera.

I was planning to buy a DSLR for past 1 year .Finally my search ended to Nikon D5100.
Let me tell you one thing...its awesome for novice users.Quality of photograph in auto-focus is simply incredible.I am really happy and now i am exploring more about this camera to shoot awesome pics in manual mode........

I'm a beginner, and this is my first DSLR.
The processor is fast! It captures & processes the image like fire !! I love this part.
But has issue with the Auto focus, It does not auto focus properly, You'd want to focus manually.
If you are particular about this feature, I'd suggest you go for a next version.
Apart from that I'm happy with the product.

Everything is great about this camera. You will have a lot to learn to operate it which is common in all SLRs for new users.
I had done a detailed analysis before purchasing this camera and this is the best for its price.

My friend has Canon 70D that is nearly 3 times expensive than Nikon D5100 but the quality of picture with 70D was not even close to what D5100 took. We both were surprised (me happily :P).

Got this camera a few months back and have been playing around with it since. Feels nice to use and thanks to the swivelling screen, even creative shots are easy tasks. Personally, I prefer it over Nikon's D3200 as you can make up for the MP difference thru nicely focussed shots.
Took 30 hours to arrive from Ghaziabad to Pune but 3 days to reach my hands from the hub (barely 10km away from my address) thanks pincode goof-up by the logistics dept. So -1 star for the delivery!

Superb picture quality. The camera is quiet handy and easy to use, The live view and screen rotating features are awesome. Took a few photographs without flash also inside the room, the picture quality is fantastic. Registered the Product on Nikon website without any issues. The price at flipkart is the lowest and delivery was prompt. I 'm loving it.

All the reviews have captured Nikon 5100 pros and cons. It is one of the best product and available at flipkart at its best price.
But I have let down by the packaging by ws retail. it was just wrapped in a single layer of bubble wrap. as it is a fragile product i wish they had taken more care of packaging. After receiving the delivery i was skeptic of camera in its good condition inside.

WSRetail needs to take care of better packaging for fragile products!!!

After using it for sometime, I feel it's a good time to write some comments about it. So cutting the fat, I'll get to the data points.

1. For this budget, this is the best you can get compared to Canon.
2. If you can properly hand hold a dslr, it'll never let you down. But remember with this sensitive and big sensor (compared to point n shoot), your slightest movement will result in out of focus shots, specially at wide open apertures.

I purchased the Nikon D5100 camera two months back.
It came with standard 18-55 mm lens and the way it was packed , i must say great. The delivery superb.
The camera works fine and i am very much happy with the performance.
Flipkart did give me a great deal to get my dream camera.

This is the second DSLR im owning and very pleased with the products overall functionality... its way better than its previous versions. this is one of the greatest models for the beginners to intermediates.
