best camera for the price range.. and Superfast delivery by Flipkart as usual. 4 fps is very helpful and bigger sensor size gives really great pictures.. recommended to use VR and G type lenses with this for sharp pictures. Easy to use and carry lightweight body.. Overall a very nice camera.

This was my first DSLR! I have bought it with a 18-135mm AF-S Nikon lens (not the kit lens).
Have not faced any problems till now. For an amateur, this can be the dream start!!!
As in comparison with Canon, there are big battles being fought out there! So I have nothing much to comment on that

People, if you are looking for an entry level DSLR, then look no further. This here's the best Nikon i've known (entry level). Of course it has some cons but which camera doesn't? If you are into serious photography, go for it. But then again, this is just me. Get one and see for yourselves what wonders it can perform.

Just bought Nikon D5100, and believe me, this is one of the best SLR that I've ever used (Previously I've used Cannon 1100D, 550D, 600D, Sony A65VK, A57K, A58K).

Less noise at high ISO. Great color depth. Great image quality.

I finalized my camera after lot of research and thinking.Then came the point to order, I was worried to order from flipkart(WS reatail) as NIKON official website says that flipkart(ws retail is not a authorized dealer of NIKON camera's and the warranty might not be valid).
I took a risk and order the camera.

Only thing is it does not have built in auto focus motor... but that should not be the problem for those who are just starting with DSLRs coz there are many lenses with in built auto focus motors. But for those who already have kit of old lenses without autofocus then only Manual focus is the way to go.... otherwise its the best cam.... I own it and I love it....

I've been using this camera for quite some time now.
The software/firmware of the camera is quite old, it is not same as the other cameras of the series such as Nikon D5200/5300, so its quite time consuming to get used to.
The 18-55mm lens supplied with it also very old generation one, it's quite bulky big and inaccurate.
This camera is readily compatible with all other nikon lenses, so the supplied lens is not quite a big issue here.
