the writer has very nicely narrated the origin and development of Islam in a clear cut way. he has clearly mentioned the power struggle faced after the death of Prophet Mohammad. the best part is that he has placed the facts without any bias for the readers to make there own conlusion. the book has also dealt very well the concept of a universal Islamic nation and nations with Islamic religion.

Well written...with panache! A precise history on advent of Islam and clarification on many issues which poses question marks on Islamic Tradition (polygamy etc.). Aslan Reza did his best..to describe best of Koran. His Argument is simple..if you want Violence,Cruelty you can interpret Holy Koran like that...and if you are interested in Forgiveness, Charity and Non-Violence, you can get several verses on this also. He clarified many doubts around "Prophet Muhammad" which normally western writ...

Analytical, well researched and never venturing into exaggerations or melodrama, this book is, quite simply a treasure trove of information on Islam; from the events shaping up its' origin to it's course through history.

its a perfect book if you want to know history about Islam and who truly is GOD. I'm not even eligible to write a review about such a great author.

Its like a new perspective that open up and allows you to see RELIGION as a creative force rather than a destructive one, this is how I felt after reading No God But God.
Islam and its various elements, some shaped by the Divine, and others by the Society at large specially after the demise of the Last Prophet Muhammed (p.b.u.h) is showcased and discussed in detail.
The book clears up almost every controversial shade associated with Islam.
