Summary of the Book

Catherine Morland encounters the dashing Henry Tilney while she spends a few weeks in Bath. She falls in love with him, and when he invites her to his family estate, she accepts. However, Northanger Abbey appears haunted, especially to a great lover of Gothic thrillers such as Catherine. What secrets does the estate hold, and how is everything linked to the death of Henry’s mother? This dark comedy is a serious and unsentimental commentary on the ideas of marriage and death.
