    About the Book

A serious, quiet young college student in Tokyo - Toru, is devoted to Naoko, a beautiful and introspective young woman. Their mutual passion is marked by the tragic death of their best friend many years back. Toru begins to adapt to campus life and the loneliness and isolation he faces there. But Naoko finds the pressures and responsibilities of life unbearable and painful. Norwegian Wood is the story of Naoko who retreats further into her own world, and Toru who is drawn to a fiercely independent young woman.

fell in love with this book after the first 4 pages. and it just keeps getting better. the writing is beautiful, and the writing just puts the character right in front of you - makes you feels what they're supposed to be feeling. Looking forward to 1Q84 now!!!

    Norwegian Wood

Beautiful book. It is like poetry, but only in prose passages. The flow is smooth, the transitions flow beautifully.

    Awsome

I got introduced to Haruki through a friend of mine who absolutely swears by his books. Norwegian Wood is the second book that i read of this author. Savoured this book lil by lil so as not to finish it too soon. But the final part of the book was the best one. At the end of the book, I felt like I have experienced "life" in its entirety through this book. The various fallacies of human nature, the contradictions that are constant in our minds are brilliantly portrayed in this book. Though ...

    Soulful

This is one of Murakami's best works. It was profoundly deep and touching. I could relate to every emotion described, and the feelings of every character was intense.
There was the usual Murakami's Metophoric touch to it. The book leaves you with lingering thoughts which just becomes a part of you.

    A must read!
