As we worked on this book, the anthill became a way of thinking about the classrooms, schools, communities, and relationships that shape our work. It helped us notice the layers of unseen labour that make visible change possible - care, trust, reflection, learning, and repair. The metaphor is not about being like ants. It is about noticing the invisible work that sustains collective life. Not a Bystander is, in many ways, an invitation to look beneath the surface.
