The book covers the theory before testing the reader’s knowledge. Each chapter contains concise explanations of the concepts and sets of practice exercises with answers. It covers basic computer knowledge and contains a set of model papers. It also contains computer awareness questions from previous years’ competitive papers.
It begins by introducing the fundamental concepts of computer systems. Then, it provides an overview of Operating Systems and the different Operating Systems in common use today. The next chapter covers data analysis, which is the fundamental function of computer systems. Programming languages are the focus of the next chapter.
After this, the book proceeds to practical everyday usage of computers. It looks at the Microsoft Office Suite. Each major application in the suite is given a separate chapter. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access are discussed individually.
The concept of application packages is looked at next, and then the accounting software Tally is discussed. Internet, networking, and computer viruses are the topics of the next two sections. This is followed by a set of model papers.
There are additional sections at the end. These sections contain a list of short cut keys that can be used in Microsoft Word, common computer related abbreviations, and a glossary of terms related to computer science.
