Summary of The Book
The general knowledge questions have been arranged according to subject and divided into several subtopics. The book has six major divisions, History, Geography, Indian Polity, Indian Economy, General Science, and General Knowledge.
The history section includes the Indus Valley Civilization and the Vedic Period, the emergence of Buddhism and Jainism, the rise of the Magadhan and Mauryan Empires, and the Sangam Period in the south. The Gupta period and the Post Guptan era, the arrival of the Arabs and Turks, and the various Sultanates and provincial kingdoms are also covered.
The next section describes the medieval period, which involves the Mughal Empire, the Marathas, and the Sikhs. The arrival of various European powers in India and the emergence and consolidation of British rules is covered in detail. The history section finishes with the socio-religious movement and the Indian National Movement.
The next subject covered is Geography. This section begins with a macro view and then proceeds into the details. It begins with an overview of the Universe and then the Earth. It then covers topics like the atmosphere, the climate, mountains and rocks, and water resources. This part also covers facts on countries other than India and some facts on agriculture, mining, and various industries.
Then, the focus shifts to India. It covers India’s water resources, climate, natural vegetation and soil, agriculture and animal husbandry, minerals and industries, national parks and sanctuaries, and infrastructure like transport and communication.
The next subject covered is Indian Polity. This section focuses on the constitution and its features, fundamental rights and duties, citizenship, the executive, legislature, and the judiciary. The state legislature, Indian federalism and center-state relations are detailed. The public service commissions, attorney general, election commission, local government, and amendments to the constitution are the next topics.
In the Indian Economy section, the nature of the Indian Economy, planning, currency and inflation, poverty and unemployment, banking system and capital market, the fiscal system, infrastructure and foreign trade, human resource development, and natural resources form the subtopics.
General science covers physics, chemistry, and biology. In the general knowledge section, the subtopics include sports, literature, research facilities in India, famous personalities, international organizations, Census 2001, Indian culture, and important dates.

At the end of each section, a set of questions based on assertion and reasoning are given.
